As an Owner and Principal of Advanced Engineering Inc., Derek Fink is a mechanical engineer dedicated to delivering innovative, cost-effective, and practical MEP/FP designs tailored to his clients’ needs. With a strong foundation in mechanical engineering from Drexel University, he leverages extensive experience in project management, mechanical and plumbing design, and construction administration to offer solutions to complex challenges. His experience with mixed-use and multi-family projects helps clients navigate the benefits and drawbacks associated with each MEF/FP decision, so that the final product is consistent with their expectations. Derek offers inspired solutions while striving for efficiency and effectiveness in every project.

David Morrison is an Owner and Principal of Advanced Engineering Inc. (AEI), a full-service MEP/FP engineering firm in Media, PA. With a passion for developing elegant solutions to complex challenges in the built environment, David collaborates closely with clients to deliver designs that align with their vision, budget, and sustainability objectives. Known for his ability to simplify intricate problems, David empowers stakeholders to make informed building decisions. He holds PE licenses across multiple US states and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Drexel University. David actively contributes to the industry as a member of the ASHRAE Philadelphia Board of Governors and the ULI Housing and Healthcare Councils.

As a Principal at AEI, Michael is a seasoned leader responsible for the overall management, growth and practice of the firm. With a dedication to innovative design solutions, he brings a unique blend of efficiency and aesthetics to address the diverse needs of the firm’s clients. His expertise spans various areas, including urban design, redevelopment, placemaking, and a strong passion for promoting smart urban growth and housing patterns. Outside of his professional pursuits, Mike finds fulfillment in spending quality time with his wife and daughter, cherishing summers at the Jersey Shore, perfecting his golf game, exploring the culinary world, and enthusiastically renovating his 1920 Craftsman Four Square home. He’s also an avid follower of Philadelphia sports teams, demonstrating his unwavering support for the local community. In addition to his role at AEI, Michael has a rich history as an Adjunct Architecture Professor at Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, where he has shared his knowledge and passion for architecture with future professionals. Michael joined AEI in October of 2025 and is a proud alumnus of Drexel University.

Timothy W. Lewis is a knowledgeable engineer with over thirty years of Engineering and Project Management experience in the building and marine construction in both the public and private sectors. Tim enjoys engineering design and sees himself as a problem solver. Tim has designed electrical systems for a wide range of projects in different industries, including commercial, educational, industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and transportation. This broad experience enables him to understand and develop appropriate engineering alternatives to meet the requisite needs of the project with a focus on safety and energy efficiency. He has performed electrical engineering studies including Short Circuit Analysis, and Arc Flash Reports. His design experience includes Medium and Low Voltage Power Distribution, Mission Critical projects utilizing multiple emergency generators, and uninterruptible power supplies for Control and Data Centers. Tim also loves to show his artistic flair in lighting designs for signature and historic sites.

Joel Redinger joined AEI in 2003 upon receiving his Associates Degree in Engineering Technology. He also achieved his LEED accreditation and is a member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers and NFPA. Joel’s responsibilities include plumbing and fire protection design, as well as project management. He has experience in a wide range of projects, including restaurants/commercial kitchens, residential, student housing, laboratories, data centers, and educational facilities.

Gerald Fink started AEI in 2000, bringing 30 years of engineering experience to his new firm. He led the company to become one of the top names for MEP/FP engineering in the Philadelphia area. He worked on a diverse variety of projects all across the Mid-Atlantic area, providing his expertise in master planning, design, and construction. Through practical systems, smart solutions, and a genuine understanding of the client’s needs, Gerald earned excellent reviews from architects, building owners, and project managers alike. He brought a real-world understanding to each project, having renovated several historic office buildings and homes of his own. He created systems that strive to eliminate both economic and energy waste.
After 25 years with AEI, Gerald is now retired and enjoying the next chapter of his life, devoting more time to his passions and interests. Gerald is eager to focus on a number of car restoration and racing projects in his shop. While he continues to consult for AEI, Gerald is moving on to manage several personal construction projects on his and his wife Kim’s business campus, and of course he continues to care for and enjoy his dogs and Alpacas.
