General Overview: Comcast Spectacor came to AEI when they needed to correct a shortcoming in the air handling system. The system was not capable of providing required cooling when outside temperatures increased.
Special Features: Cooling problems jeopardized Stanley Cup Playoff’s quality of ice because of warm arena temperatures during early summer events. AEI investigated and found an inherent flaw in the original design which allowed a portion of the return air system (400,000 CFM total) to bypass the built up air handling unit’s cooling coil. Our design successfully added 10 ft. by 12 ft. cooling coils in each air handling unit to condition the bypassing air and provide cooling to all air being circulated within the stadium area.
Construction Value: Approximately $2 million.
AEI Services Provided: Mechanical engineering design services and construction administration support.
